I've added some missing features in new version v0.3:

  • colors of the window can now be changed (frame, background and text color)
  • position and colors are remembered upon exit and saved in MemView.ini file.

Spotify Popup - show currently playing artist and song on your desktop

Introducing Spotify Popup, version 0.2

One thing I was missing when listening music through Spotify is displaying artist and name of the song that is currently playing. Enter Spotify Popup. If you are using Winamp you know what I'm talking about.

Features:

  • displays popup windows with cool in and out animation in lower right corner with artist and song name. 
  • uses alpha blending for window edges (looks crispy!)
  • sits quietly in system tray (blue Spotify icon)
  • uses pure WIN32 API (no .NET framework!). Not even MFC. Low on resources and memory consumption.
  • if you missed the popup, clicking its tray icon will show it again
  • no installation, just unpack download zip file and run the app. That's it.
  • did I mention the animations. You really need to see it to believe it.

Limitations:

  • artist name or song will be truncated if they are longer then popup width. It rarely happens, but it may be something I will work on in the future
  • no customization, which means font, color and length of showing the popup are not changeable. I like to keep the looks similar to Spotify client.

Introducing MemView, version 0.2

What's inside the box:

  • low on system resources. It's using less then 3MB of RAM.
  • it doesn't require any additional libraries. Pure Win32. No MFC!
  • freely movable on the desktop. Always on top of other windows.
  • quietly sitting in system tray

What is missing:

  • no customization. Which means:
    - colors and font are fixed
    - settings dialog is empty.
    - 2 seconds refresh interval 
  • you need to have Calibri font installed on your system. If you have Office 2007 or Windows Vista and above you already have i installed.
  • position of the window is not remembered when you exit the program. You have to move it to your desired location again after staring, if you don't like the default location.
